Biology

The type series is attached to a large Lepidoptera pupa from which they have merged. The pupa shows a strong resemblance to pupae of the skipper genus Perichares (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), with the front end drawn out in a long “nose”. It can not be excluded that the Horismenus specimens have merged from a parasitoid host inside the Lepidoptera pupa.
